  • Albert R. Wallace was a mid-upper gunner aboard a Halifax bomber with No.     419 Squadron, RCAF. During a raid on Duisburg, his aircraft was hit by flak. He was able to bail out and survived along with four other members of the crew. The pilot was killed and another gunner succumbed to injuries shortly after being captured. Al was captured and  imprisoned as a POW at the infamous Stalag Luft III prison camp and was there when the "Great Escape" took place.

  • Jim Thomas joined the RCAF at 8:30 in the morning on his 16th birthday and retired 9 and a half years later, becoming a commercial pilot with Air Canada. During his service he piloted the famed P-51D Mustang, among many others.

  • Stanley Bieniawski joined the RAF/Polish Air Force in 1944, working as a mechanic on Spitfires. He soon volunteered to be an Air Gunner, and flew ops on Lancasters with No. 300 Polish Bomber Squadron. Their last mission was to bomb Hitler's residence in Berchtesgaden on May 8, 1945.

  • Charles "Chuck" Casson joined the RCAF in 1950, serving with No. 426 Squadron. He flew North Stars from Saigon to the North Pole, then flew Neptunes on maritime Patrol out of Comox. He left the RCAF in 1964 and pursued a career as a teacher.

  • Sam "Goldie" Garnet joined the RCAF in 1942 and was seconded to the RAF's No. 547 Squadron (Coastal Command). He flew ops in B-24 Liberator as part of a crew of ten and was a WAG, or Wireless Operator/Air Gunner. They conducted transatlantic flyovers to protect convoys from attack by U-Boats.

  • Fraser "Red" Muir was a mid-upper gunner in the RCAF who flew in Lancaster bombers with No. 50 Squadron.

  • Terry Goodwin was an American who volunteered with the RCAF in 1941, before Pearl Harbour. He did three tours, piloting Lancaster bombers with No. 61 Squadron and then switching to unarmed Mosquito bombers that dropped 4,000lb "cookies" on Berlin with No. 692 Squadron. Notably, he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal and the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service.
